In the wealth of Goddess Saraswati (goddess of music and learning),
There is a unique quality.
The more spent, the more the wealth increases
If it is not spent, the wealth decreases

The reigning monarch of Indian Classical Music, Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasrajji is renowned over the world, not only as a legendary artist, but as an ultimate guru. Like a lamp that lights another, Pandit Jasrajji has passed on the radiance of his own music to as many students as have been able to reach his high expectations. In his name, he has founded several institutions, including the Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music (PJIM) based in New York, New Jersey and Pittsburgh ( as well as the Pandit Jasraj Music Foundation in Vancouver. In particular, the Pandit Jasraj Institute for Music Research, Artistry and Appreciation- the Mewati Gurukul has reached amazing heights as an institute to propagate Indian Classical Music in practice, performance and theory in the U.S.A. This institute is headed by one of the premier disciples of Pandit Jasrajji and divine vocalist, Pandit Tripti Mukherjee and besides her already illustrious performing career, she is a loving and caring guru to wide range of musical shishyas- the next generation of the Mewati Gharana.

Thus, through inspiration from the above achievements, this concert marks the beginning of a landmark venture in Canada to promote Indian arts and culture- the Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music Toronto. Our institute will offer classes in Hindustani classical music for students who wish to learn in the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara, in particular in the Mewati tradition. The institute will be open to all who have the commitment, dedication and open mind to learn music. PJIM Toronto is also open to all the students of all ages, races, religions and nationality. We donít require them to have prior knowledge of music or any particular language.

Admission is open to one and all with these requirements : COMMITMENT, REGULARITY, PATIENCE, DEDICATION, DETERMINATION, DEVOTION and EFFORT.

In addition to regular classes of Indian Classical Music, we will also aim to conduct annual workshops, music competitions, as well as music concerts.

Classes will be conducted by Dr. Amit Arya under direct guidance from Pandita Tripti Mukherjee as well as Sangeet Martand Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasrajji.
